Prompt 7: Music Piece

Sketch due 8/17 - Final due 8/24

So this is very much like the sketch idea posted last week. If you happened to have done that sketch, take it a step further and make it into a finished piece. Anyone you know have a band? Now’s the time to promote it! Try to incorporate the band name, or the title of the music that inspires you.

There is no size restriction, but suggested sizes might be square (as if it were to fit into an cd album) or 18 x 24 poster size.

Week 12 Sketch Prompts

Sketch 1: Draw something inspired by music. It can incorporate the lyrics, or not. Either way, express how it fuels your creativity.

AND/OR

Try any of the other sketch prompts from the archive, or work on one of the Illustration prompts! Since summer is coming to a close, its now or never!

Week 11 Sketch Prompts

Sketch 1: Have a favorite period of time? Ancient Egyptian? Victorian? 80s? It’s a pretty vast subject matter really. this sketch should hone in on 1 time period, focusing on the fashion or architecture or way of lifeline squiggles

AND/OR

Sketch 2: Remember the drawing exercise where you take a squiggly line or certain shape and turn it onto something?  That’s exactly what this sketch prompt is!  Have someone else make the line or shape for you, and then go to town!

Prompt 6: Dynamic Conflict!

Sketch due 8/3 - Final due 8/10

Character designing and drawing is awesome!  However, have you ever found yourself drawing a character in a pretty tame situation?  Or maybe the image just comes out really… flat?  Well, the best way to make any situation more intense is to switch up the “camera angle” on the scene!  Think movies, what makes a shot more dynamic than your run-of-the-mill establishing shot?

Well now that you’re thinking about the dynamic part of the image, time to go think about conflict!  Are characters arguing?  Yelling?  Duking it out?  Think about it!

week 10 (8?): prompt 2: design your own character.
These are characters I designed for a possible story I might do for my dp project~
(they don’t really have names)
It’s about this spirit girl who befriends this human boy and in order to gain honor and acceptance in her world, she needs to suck out a human soul on one night where spirits are allowed into the human world. But she doesn’t want to hurt him, but at the same time senses she will only be with him temporarily whereas she may be with her spirit friends forever. She needs to separate from friendship, or acceptance, respect and recognition.
Sort of like that. Also I’m wondering when this story should take place, originally it was going to be early to mid 19th century, but now I’m wondering if I should just make it modern already?

Week 10 Sketch Prompts

Sketch 1: There are so many different builds people have, and so many different ways each “body type” can have!  There’s no real end of ways to describe what our bodies look like.  But it’s always good to practice drawing different builds!  It’s a great way to add extra character to the figures you draw.  So practice with some different builds!  Aim for 3 - 5!

AND/OR

Sketch 2: Kind of building off of the prompt above… create a character!  Though this character isn’t required to be human.  If you really get into this, give us a bit of the story your character goes with : )

Week 9 Sketch Prompts

Sketch 1: Draw a new superhero, or even yourself as a superhero. Bonus if you can show the superpower in the sketch!

AND/OR

Sketch 2: Illustrate a poem. Can be old or modern, but the illustration should express or refer to the themes of the passage.

Prompt 5: Seasonal Piece

Sketch due 7/20 - Final due 7/27

It might be hot as hell in Boston, but maybe that’s just the kind of inspiration to draw out a scene of a particular season. For this project, the season must be implied in the piece. This doesn’t mean you can’t be subtle about it though; seasonal props are acceptable just as much as a landscape piece would be. Evoking a sense of emotion for the season is also key to this.

not really a character of sorts, but I really enjoy creating self-portraits.

Week 8 Sketch Prompts

Sketch 1: Do a self portrait. Try to play up expression and character, it could mean bringing forward something that doesn’t necessarily exist in your face at the moment (maybe you want to bring out your inner bearded lady, or maybe you want to show a future face tattoo) Just try to challenge yourself with more than just a smiling face!

AND/OR

Sketch 2: Try out making a logo design. A fake brand would be suggested, but you can definitely try doing something for your future brand/company if you have an idea in mind.

threadandclaws:

So it took a while due to things getting in the way but this is what I decided to do with the week 6 sketch prompt. This is Terra, she’s an original character of mine. And this is what she looks like throughout her various ages. It was quite a fun exercise.

GUYS I MADE MEELO OLD! He looks so homeless! And he is being the leaf! I just, I can’t imagine he would be all that cute older, and I feel like he would just not be the best at following customs (like keeping his head shaved properly) lol.

this has been sitting around, waiting to be uploaded… I decided to do a hair style that would go along with the fashion prompt. So I based it off the Birds of Paradise flower.
